Evaluation.

For my final animation I chose to do a typographical animation, I stand by this decision as it was a lot of fun and I feel I achieved some interesting effects, some examples include camera shakes, falling letters, cracking letters and cracks in the floor.

Perhaps the hardest part of my animation was figuring out how to cause damage to the floor and letters, I tried ALOT of different techniques but the one I found most effective was using the knife tool on the individual letters to show where I want the cracks to show then applying a week shatter effect that I animated to increase on impact with the floor resulting in cracks forming on the lettering. the floor proved a bit more complicated and the shatter and knife tool technique did really work I had to come up with a different solution and after much thought and stress! I came up with the idea of making a crack shape by editing a pyramid then applying a Boole to the shape and the floor then finally animating the crack shape to move towards the floor with the falling letter resulting in cracks.

All in all i feel my animation went well I achieved what I set out to do, and I learnt ALOT! My only thought is that i should have made it a bit longer.

Final Animation.

This is my final animation, the quality has been dramaticly reduced by uploading it but you get the general idea.

Story Boarding

Below is a story board to help me both gather my ideas and outline the key point in the animation.

Concept Drawings

Below are a few Drawings of the text i will be using in my animation.

Development of falling text.

This is the first stage of my project, i made a text to look like stone that fell from the sky on top of the fist word "MADE" when the text hits ive made it cause damage to the surfaces it lands on using the knife tool, the shatter tool and animation.

at this stage i wanted to advance the animation by making the letters fall onto the "made" then loose balance and crash to the floor to add a sense of realism. this was done by using auto key framing, the rotation tool and adding more shatter effect.

How is 3D animation used in industry?

3D animation is involved with so many forms of industry and media from digital architecture to post production graphics for the X-Factor.

In my mind the most impressive C4D work in architecture are the “walk troughs” or “fly through” they are digital representations of what a house or building will look like, I have found some seriously impressive examples of this, below are some screen grabs from a fly through video of a beach house.

The visuals in this video are truly stunning, and incredibly life like i like the idea of the walk through it adds that extra sence of realism and creates the illusion of actually being in these rooms. i am currently debating if i should make another atempt at a house if i do i will definatle adopt this animation technique.

As I mentioned earlier 3d animations are also used for the tv a good example of this is the X-factor opening sequence, where the x-factor “X” hurtles through space and crash lands on earth this adds a sense of drama and excitement in an attempt to get the viewer pumped for the show. Here are a few screen shots from this animation.

As you can see C4D animations are extremely effective at making relatively boring TV interesting and creating excitement, even if the title sequence is totally irellivant to the and out of context to the program it still for fills its purpose. you can see examples of C4D work in alot of tv shows opening titles.

Rolling ball animation.

this is a simple animation to get me used to making object move and rotate at the same time.

scrawling text animation.

this animation i learned how to make text look like its righting itself. i chose the script font as it suites the hand written style.
